Fall Tri-School Day of Service
Join dozens of other volunteers from the JHU health professional schools and serve our community at SOURCE partner community-based organizations. One morning of volunteer service can truly make a world of difference!
Open to students, faculty, staff and alumni from BSPH
Several projects are available to choose from (please pick one project) and registrations are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Read more below and register today!
NOTE: Transportation will be provided to/from project sites. Please arrive at the Bloomberg School of Public Health inside the Monument St. entrance to check in at least 10 minutes before your scheduled departure. SOURCE will provide snacks, but please bring a refillable water bottle and any other sustenance that you may need. Projects may require light lifting.
Blue Water Baltimore | 8:20 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Planting Trees | Get your hands dirty for clean water and a greener Baltimore! Join Blue Water Baltimore staff as they plant trees in yards and along the streets of a few Baltimore County neighborhoods. Volunteers new to planting trees and expert TreeKeepers alike are welcome! The van will leave from BSPH (Monument St. entrance) promptly at 8:30 am and will return to campus by 12:30 pm.
Commodore John Rodgers School | 8:30 a.m. - 12:20 p.m.
Campus Beautification and Building Organization | Commodore John Rodgers is a community school serving a large population of students and families in SE Baltimore. Volunteer to assist with organizing and beautifying the building to make the school the kind of space our community deserves. The van will leave from BSPH (Monument St. entrance) promptly at 8:40 am and will return to campus by 12:20 pm.
Amazing Grace Lutheran Church | 9:45 a.m. - 12:35 p.m.
Community Green Space Upkeep | In this group service project, volunteers will assist with maintenance of the Port Street Commons, a vibrant community green space in the McElderry Park neighborhood. The Commons provide a space for mindfulness, recreation, and environmental education through the labyrinth and gardens. Tasks for volunteers will include clearing fences of vines, weeding the pollinator and rain gardens, clearing trash from the labyrinth, assembling a tumbling composter, and tending to the vegetable garden.The van will leave from BSPH (Monument St. entrance) promptly at 9:55 am and will return to campus by 12:35 pm.
Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake | 9:50 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Re-Store Improvements | Volunteers will be doing a wide variety of tasks. They include but are not limited to, moving furniture, putting together furniture, sorting donated goods, painting, cleaning, and destroying old furniture. All of this helps Habitat for Humanity sell more products to raise money for Affordable Homeownership! The van will leave from BSPH (Monument St. entrance) promptly at 10:00 am and will return to campus by 2:30 pm. Please note that due to the timing of this shift, we will be offering pizza to the Habitat for Humanity volunteers upon their return to BSPH!
