Sign up for SOURCE’s Fall Tri-School Day of Service, on Sat, Oct 7th and join dozens of other volunteers in the community at partnering SOURCE community-based organizations. Don’t miss out on your chance to give back to the Baltimore community! Projects will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. To sign up, send an email to SOURCE at SOURCE@jhu.edu with your name, email, school affiliation, cell phone number, and top 3 project choices.
All participants receive a free President's Day of Service t-shirt! All projects begin and end at the School of Public Health’s Monument Street lobby. Times indicated below reflect the times that groups will be asked to meet and return to the School of Public Health.
Sites and project details are as follows:
Chinquapin Run 8:30am – 1:20pm Work with Civic Works on their Annual Ricky Myers Day of Service at this community park. Volunteers will remove invasive species and mulch around the park in Northeast Baltimore.
House of Ruth 8:35am – 12:30pm Support women and children who are seeking refuge from abusive situations by joining a group of volunteers at House of Ruth. Activities will include cleaning and sanitizing common areas within one of the House of Ruth Shelters and organizing a clothing and supply closet.
Montford Garden 8:35am – 12:10pm Work with Historic East Baltimore Community Action Coalition (HEBCAC) and area community leaders to prepare a community garden for the fall by removing vegetation. Volunteers will also work on cleaning up a community park.
Amazing Grace 8:40am – 12:10pm Help this East Baltimore urban garden get ready for spring and summer while beautifying the landscape Rose Street Garden! Volunteers will help weed, mulch, trim bushes and pick up trash.
Dayspring Garden 9:05am – 1:00pm Work with Civic Works on their Annual Ricky Myers Day of Service by cleaning out a community garden, replanting and removing debris.
YO! Baltimore 9:35am – 2:10pm Join a team of volunteers to help clean and organize the clothing closet and food pantry at YO! Baltimore. Volunteers will also help organize the commuter and file room.
Baltimore American Indian Center 9:35am – 12:45pm Learn about the indigenous people who call Baltimore home while assisting with exterior painting and beautification projects around the garden courtyard at the center.
Living Classrooms 9:40am – 1:30pm Assist the Saturday Youth Programing team at Living Classrooms Foundation UA House by facilitating youth sports activities and assisting with cooking demonstrations for youth.
