SOURCE Tri-School Day of Service (Schools of Public Health, Nursing and Medicine)

One morning of your year can make a world of difference! Sign up for SOURCE’s Fall Tri-School Day of Service, on Sat, April 29th and join dozens of other volunteers in the community at partnering SOURCE community-based organizations. Don’t miss out on your chance to give back to the Baltimore community! Projects will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. To sign up, send an email to SOURCE at SOURCE@jhu.edu with your name, email, school affiliation, cell phone number, and top 3 project choices. All participants receive a free t-shirt! All projects begin and end at the School of Public Health’s Monument Street lobby. Times indicated below reflect the times that groups will be asked to meet and return to the School of Public Health.

 

Sites and project details are as follows:

Project PLASE 8:30am – 12:20pm Support individuals experiencing homelessness by working with Project PLASE to clean and organize community space in a transitional home. This project will include cleaning and organizing the kitchen and other community spaces.

Blue Water Baltimore 8:35am – 12:15pm Help Baltimore increase their tree canopy by joining this community tree planting project through Blue Water Baltimore. Participants will be working with community members to plant new trees in their community.  

Amazing Grace 8:40am – 12:10pm Help this East Baltimore urban garden get ready for spring and summer while beautifying the landscape outside of Amazing Grace Lutheran Church! Volunteers will help weed, mulch, trim bushes and pick up trash.

Banner Neighborhood 8:55am – 12:10pm Support this community garden as they work together to clean up and beautify the space for the upcoming warmer months. Volunteers will help weed, mulch, trim bushes and pick up trash.

Bea Gaddy’s Women and Children Center 9:10am – 12:10pm Work with this local East Baltimore organization to prepare bags of food and nutrition that will be distributed to community members.  

The Commodore John Rodgers School 9:20am – 1:15pm Join a team of volunteers to help teachers update the technology in their classrooms by installing updates and clearing history. Volunteers will also be organizing and cleaning the library.  

Baltimore American Indian Center 9:35am – 1:10pm Learn about the indigenous people who call Baltimore home while assisting with exterior community beautification projects and hauling out bulk trash. Volunteers will also assist in general spring cleaning projects.    

Elev8 9:40am – 2:10pm Help create a more welcoming and comforting community by painting murals and inspirational quotes at a turnaround school in East Baltimore.
