Ways to Stay Connected and Involved

SOURCE Alumni and Friends Newsletter

SOURCE sends a twice-yearly alumni & friends newsletter with updates about what’s going on at SOURCE and about involvement opportunities.

Volunteer in the Community During SOURCE's Tri-School Days of Service

Join SOURCE and dozens of volunteers at one of several projects that our community partners have designed for small groups of students, faculty, staff and alumni. Don’t miss out on your chance to serve our community alongside your Hopkins colleagues! Mark your calendars for our Spring Tri-School Day of Service to be held on Sat, April 20, 2024!

SOURCE Alumni Award for Outstanding Community Service

Every April, SOURCE hosts an annual Volunteer Appreciation and Awards Luncheon, honoring students, faculty, community members, and alumni who participated in community activities throughout the academic year.

Our SOURCE Alumni Award recognizes an individual alum from either the Bloomberg School of Public Health, School of Nursing, or School of Medicine for her/his outstanding community service. The nomination period will close on March 19, 2024. Self-nominations and nominations for others are both accepted. Please contact SOURCE@jhu.edu for more information. To submit a nomination, visit SOURCE.jhu.edu/Awards.

The Connection Community Consultants Program

SOURCE is currently recruiting interested alumni and students to assist community-based organizations (CBOs) with community-identified projects. SOURCE provides services to our partnering CBOs in Baltimore that need assistance with short-term projects (6-8 weeks long). Projects may include data analysis and interpretation, surveying, research, writing/revising grants, curriculum design and teaching health topics and much more. Small teams of 3-5 students typically work on a project. Projects are short-term, with a flexible time commitment (max. 8 weeks).

Any interested alums can join a team to serve in one of two capacities:

  • team participant
  • subject matter expert to provide guidance to the consulting teams

To register for The Connection, send your resume or CV to SOURCE@jhu.edu and indicate which of the two roles listed above you would prefer. For more information, visit our Connection Community Consultants page.

Give to SOURCE

Since our founding in 2005, SOURCE has continued to expand with new programming, involving more students, faculty, and community partners in our work. As we continue to grow, so does our need for funding. You have experienced, first hand, what SOURCE can do for Baltimore and for health professionals.

We urge you to contribute to SOURCE so that we can continue to grow and evolve along with the JHU health professional schools. With your donation, you can help us to continue to provide support and resources to faculty and community preceptors through the SOURCE Service-Learning Faculty and Community Fellows Program, provide professional development and training to students through the SOURCE Service Scholars Program, and support new initiatives to engage student, faculty and staff through service and service-learning.
